Here we are in the middle of 2010.  As many know, at the end of the year, we release our J1 Top 100 of the Year chart.  This is our “final score” for the competition of music on J1 Radio.  It also drives how older songs will be heard on J1 in subsequent years. 

Normally, J1 does 52 charts per broadcast year.  This creates a dilemma, a year is not a perfect 52 weeks.  This causes the 52 week “year” to start earlier and earlier for each “year”.  This year, J1 will do something to address this.  We are adding a “leap week” into our yearly countdown show period.   This means that the 2010 J1 end-of-year chart will be based on 53 weeks of chart data instead of 52. 

To give you an update of how your favorite songs are doing so far this year, here’s a Top-100 update based on the first 27 weeks (12/26/2009 through 06/26/2010) of chart data for this evaluation year:

Standings are based on a score derived from a formula that looks at  the number of weeks on the J1 chart and the chart position each week.  Songs released in the 2009 chart year may be included in the 2010 charts if they had charting activity during the 2010 chart year. 

J1 will release a Top 100 of 2010 Chart around January 1, 2011.
